Worked alongside Cole Becker of SWMRS to bring his vision of their song “Berkeley’s On Fire” to life. Being the first single off their sophomore LP of the same name, it was crucial to encapsulate the feeling of the entire album while also giving the song it’s own identity.

The song is urgent and political, living on an album about personal growth and navigating early adulthood in 2019. The band is to release a series of zines with the albums, so a more DIY aesthetic was desired. This was achieved through use of collage, spray transfer, and xerox textures.

The design now lives as the single cover, on a t-shirt sold on the Fueled By Ramen Webstore, and on the band’s website home page.

“Berkeley’s On Fire” Release Show

For the release of SWMRS sophomore LP, they played 3 record store release shows in Oakland, Long Beach and Brooklyn. For the Long Beach show I was asked to design and print an edition of posters to be sold. Again keeping the album in mind, I designed a poster focusing on growth in a hectic political climate. The poster was hand screen printed by me at CalArts.

For this event I wanted to keep my own experiences in mind, and being a young kid with no money for a poster at a show sucked. So I also designed and hand pressed 250 buttons to be given away for free at the show to anyone who wanted them.

18” x 24”   Edition of 25.
